Okay, let's try something new

I've never done one of these before, but I am thinking about actually doing something along these lines and I'd be interested in feedback. Apparently newsletters - regular or simply a Whenever There Is News - and mailing lists with a similar purpose can be considered a useful thing. I thought about putting together a mailing list of sorts, of the latter variety - i.e. nobody would be signing up for a weekly blather about the weather, just a newsy heads-up when there's something new to report - and I wouldn't mind getting a show of (ptoential) interest. So here goes - my first poll:

Writerly newsletters - what think you?

I think they're a waste of time
I don't much care for them in my inbox but other people might like them
I'd be interested in theory (depends on the writer)
I'd be interested in practice (depends on the writer)
I'd be interested in being on the mailing list if YOU start one

Looking forward to responses.
