The old year that passes...

Others have posted retrospectives, and resolutions. I... don't think I'll do either.

But just so as to give the nod to the date and the moment, I went back over 2010 as it unfolded in my LiveJournal - and picked one favourite entry per month.

Here they are:

January an essay on faith, and on my own relationship with the sacred. This was a good month; I could have picked any one of three or four pieces - but this one, I think, stood out as special.

February a rumination of why people read.

March - "Not ALL plans went according to plan" - an account of an extraordinary visit to New York

April a good old fashioned writing rant!

May - "The annual V.E.T. visit" - what would life be without a dose of cats?

June - eh, another good old-fashioned and writing-related rant...

July this was the month of my "July Blogathon" where I posted a number of good long essays - makes it hard to pick - but I had to pick one, and it finally turned out to be THIS one - if you go back to July and poke around, perhaps you'll disagree - if so tell me in comments! [grin]

August - another nod to my less-than-ordinary childhood....

September - oh, I am not ALWAYS passionate and ranty and serious and memoir-ey. Sometimes I am just... frivolous. Remember this one? Have another giggle...

October - this one.... was just... inspired.

November - I started my Month of Museums series in this month, but I can always go back to that come December - so I picked THIS one - I mirrored it to Red Room, where it got picked for display for their front page - so there you go. You read it first right here.

December - one of my favourite "Month of Museums" pieces

So, those are my picks. What about yours? Do you agree with my choices? Would you have picked something different? If you had to pick one out of all of that as the Best of 2010, which one would you choose?
