Oh, the humanity...

On the same day, in the two different countries once separated only by a common language but now apparently by SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT... jaylake posts on American insurance and green_knight posts on British insurance.

All I can say is that I can only WISH we had the NHS's problems on this side of the pond.

I got an email from Kathleen Sebelius in my inbox just the other day, exhorting us not to give up on healthcare reform now. But the point is that the REAL reform is being blocked at every turn and anything that crawls out of Congress at this late stage will be some sort of life form that evolution itself would have scorned and rejected - a cold and slimy monster which will result in the end in a lot more people who cannot afford insurance they've got NOW being pushed even further into the non-affordance, and the people who don't have insurance at the moment because, well, they CAN'T AFFORD IT are going to be branded as felons because they STILL won't be able to afford it when it's mandated that they have to have it.

I wish all I had to worry about was whether or not my insurance would cover homeopathy...
