In the still of the night....

... I heard an owl call out, once, twice, three times. The plaintive "Who-o-o-ooooo?" echoing through the quiet cedars.

And then it was gone and all was silence again. I lay awake for a while, straining to hear it again, but it had said all it had come to say, and it was gone.

All of this might be a nice little grace note to my life here in the cedar woods... was it not for the book from our library which I lent out only last week.

Which book?...

"I heard the owl call my name".

Should I be worried...?
