A Foxglove of Uncertain Provenance

This triffid-like plant shot up in the corner planter on our deck - NOT something we planted, or even knew what the heck it was, but I was willing to wait and see what became of it, particularly after it became clear that it was setting buds and was, in fact, some sort of flower.

Well blow me down, but it's a foxglove. It bloomed the other day, and it's definitely a foxglove. How it came to grow in our planter I honestly couldn't tell you - but there it is in all of its glory. As rdeck said, "Thank you, unknown seed-bearing bird." Maybe. Well, it's as good a theory as any.

We have a Foxglove of Uncertain Provenance. And I'm damned if that doesn't sound like it should be a title for something...
