Jin Shei Cover from sgreer

Well, I have a desk again...

well, half a desk, anyway - I've just been tidying away the excess filing that's been piling up while I was finishing #3, and the notes for it, and putting away the reference books for it into their slots in the library reference shelf - and catching up with a few other chores that went by the wayside in the rush of the past few weeks. I'm almost caught up on my review duties - hopefully by the end of next week that can get crossed off the list too. But in the meantime, there's this Empty Desk thing happening - the decks have been cleared, or are in the process of being cleared, something is finished and complete and something new and exciting may be about to begin...

Not instantly, of course. I don't think I want to be starting anything major before I leave for Worldcon, knowing that there is in practical terms going to be very little time or opportunity to do anything about it while overseas and the alternative, fretting over it for two weeks while away from it, doesn't seem to be conducive to peace of mind. I don't even want to start the research reading I have to do for the next project yet, because I don't want it rattling in my brain incomplete and half-baked and with no opportunity to do anything with it for those two weeks away. So I'm in my usual post-finish funk but without an outlet to pour it into as yet, in terms of a concrete project.

I just have to keep myself busy, is all, and certainly there's plenty to do around here, catching up with all sorts of little duties here and there.

September, I start again. Reading. Writing. Dreaming.

More about that anon. Watch this space.

Anyway. Bed now. G'night all.
