writes in his journal:Something I realized last night: while I don't miss living in Oklahoma, I do miss having the best state song ever.
"OOOOOklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain..."
Yeah, I don't even know what Minnesota's state song is. "Hail Minnesota" maybe?
Is OOOOOOOOKlahoma REALLY the state song of Oklahoma? That's kind of cool, actually - and not entirely surprising. I have no idea about Minnesota, but I Googled Washington state, and the state song is this prim little ditty, rather vapid and saccharine, something about "Washington my home... I will keep you free". I vote for a change. Something along the lines of "It's raining again" or "Listen to the falling rain", at least for Western Washington. Any suggestions? (We could make a case for "we're off to see the Wizard", seeing as Seattle has been known to be addressed as the Emerald City...)
For that matter, any suggestions for the rest of them?
New York is easy - "If I can make it there, I'll make it ANYWHERE - it's up to you, New York, New York!" (or would the rest of the state rebel...?)
I can think of a few more off the top of my head - "Old Man River" for Mississippi, seeing as we have something of a stage-musical theme going here...? "California Dreaming" for Cali?... "Georgia on my mind" for Georgia - but only as sung by Ray Charles...?
Sigh. Sounds like too much fun right now. It's back to the proofs for me...
