We've been collecting, you know, loose change in a jar for a while now. Don't remember when we started the collection, exactly, but I did want to go and "Cash it in" at the local coin counter machine in our supermarket before the end of the year. So I did this thing this morning, and then I went into the shop to get a few odds and ends while I was there.
The total bill came to precisely 94 cents less than my money jar loot.
"You planned this, didn't you?" the cashier said, handing me my 94 cents in change.
It's going straight back into the jar, that handful of loose change. Seed money. I'll cash in again same time next year.
It's the eve of New Year's Eve. The year is really truly almost over.
