Well, if you want to do something for me or in my name - I need nuffink, but you might consider

Give the perfect holiday gift -- Make a wildlife gift adoption
now at Defenders of Wildlife's brand new Wildlife Adoption
Center! Adopt now at:

http://action.defenders.org/site/R?i=Fjndvw9fxCev2F70E9Xohg

Poaching, global warming and habitat and prey loss are pushing snow
leopards closer to extinction every day. In fact, only an estimated
3,500 to 7,000 snow leopards now remain in the wild.

When you adopt a snow leopard or other animal, your tax-deductible contribution will help support our work to save these great cats and other imperiled wildlife.

Make your wildlife adoption online now at:

Want to help, but don't want the plush toy? No problem...
just opt out of the plush toy and even more of your contribution will
be devoted to our wildlife-saving work!

I especially want to encourage you to spread the
word about this great gift idea. With the Holidays fast approaching,
you can help us make a powerful difference for the wildlife we all
care about...

Best Regards,

Karin Kirchoff
Vice President for Membership
Defenders of Wildlife

P.S. If you would prefer to make your Wildlife Gift Adoption over the
phone, just call (800) 385-9712.

Adopt a wolf. Or a snow leopard. Or a tiger. Or an orangoutang. Or a booby, if you want to be light-hearted about it.

Throw a few bucks the animals' way. It's the best gift you can give. That of continued existence.

Great idea!

I tend to stick closer to home, and donate giant bags of dog food and toys to the animal shelter.

That I would call good karma, too. My cats (who came from the humane society) thank you on behalf of their peers.

We adopt a polar bear each Christmas through WWF. And we get a polar bear calendar from them.

I struggle each year to find the right people charity (for us). There are lots of good ones, no doubt, but it's important to donate to a charity that feels right to you.

In our family we have a division of responsibilities, as it were - hubby deals with people charities and I do the animal ones. For people charities we vary the roster each year but usually we go for something involving kids; I've given to different animal charities over the last few years, ranging from ones who are out saving feral cats and your generic animal shelter ones right through to the African wildlife preservation charities and now the one I mentioned above - my second year of involvement with that one. Kudos for the polar bear. This year I think I will take on a snow leopard or a tiger.
